STUDIO.RA IN BOW BY REYNOLDS: A PUKI POLLINATION – LONDON BIENNALE SATELLITE IN ROME

The symbolism is the idea of the Rainbow Bridge between the opposing elements of excellence: the earth and sky. The distance between the two worlds is filled with exciting images from every religion, revolving around the idea of a bridge, connecting the rainbow is the scale of seven colors from which Buddha descends. The Bridge is a sacred concept among the Romans, hence the term Pontifex. Rome retains many places where you can breathe the aura of pagan worship in the world and its essentiality, including the Park of Caffarella with Ninfeo sacred grove of Egeria and perhaps black or white. Close to this world with myths suspended, the American artist Reynolds and Studio.ra involve artists in the neighborhood and Performance For Rainbow: A Puki Pollination, second edition Puki Procession of the performance achieved in 2009. The performance achieved by STUDIO.RA, with the collaboration of RO.MI., introduced into the program of the London Biennale designed by David Medalla in 1998. The Philippine artist chooses the intersection where the life of art blends with everyday life and creating a complete fluidity between workplace and place of passage, according to the concept of broad and deep performance Urbi et Orbi made in Rome, during the White Night in 2007.
The idea of involving situations around abstract and sublime is the basis of the performance of Reynolds welcomes the participants in a large format large rainbow colored veils, as shown in the postcard invitation that Studio.ra poetically summarizes the elements that constitute the performance. Reynolds draws inspiration for this work from the place where the public is made concrete and contemporary situations using a mythological language, that the centrality of love, excitement, vagina considered the ultimate venue for the motions of the soul.
The American artist presents a new metaphysics, leaving the complexity of the theories of Freud, addresses the myths and legends to stories that are at the origins of different cultures, how can it be the long war for the love of Helen of Troy and which was established by the Pax Puki. The artist is inspired by the great works of Poussin, Reni – remember the ‘Rape of Europa’ – to speak of some themes of eternity and the danger of oppression with which the individual history must confront and from which groped for escape. The utopian thinking is the art. Only art, unlike politics, can aspire to poetic conjunctions between men and between heaven and earth. The performance of Reynolds will give the opportunity for artists to express their own language “Union” as Uemon Ikeda, linking with the thread of his points and symbol of a vision of universal impact.
American performance artist evoke the procession, religious rites and collective desire to become an initiation rite of the art.
The route will be accompanied by the works of Jill Rock. The London artist intervenes pictorially on bark of trees or trunk that are naturally separated and entered into another cycle.
In the world you can find a natural surface to be painted, be noted. Jill Rock collected the strains dried in the Park of Caffarella with an action of Arte Povera reminiscent Mario Merz, and the collection of sarcine!
The marginal returns in the universal, in search of the sublime, released over color in the sky and earth.

La simbologia dell’Arcobaleno racchiude l’idea del ponte tra gli elementi opposti per eccellenza: il cielo e terra. La distanza tra i due mondi è colmata da ogni religione con immagini emozionanti, ruotanti attorno all’idea di ponte, di congiunzione: l’arcobaleno è la scala di sette colori da cui Buddha scende. Il Ponte è un concetto sacro presso i Romani, da cui il termine Pontifex. Roma conserva molti luoghi in cui è possibile respirare l’aura del culto pagano del mondo e delle sue essenzialità, tra cui il Parco della Caffarella, con il Ninfeo di Egeria e il bosco sacro nero o forse bianco. Vicina a questo mondo con i miti sospesi, l’artista americana Reynolds e STUDIO.RA coinvolgono il quartiere e gli artisti in Performance For Rainbow: A Puki Pollination, seconda edizione della performance Puki Procession realizzata nel 2009. Le performance realizzate da STUDIO.RA, con la collaborazione di RO.MI., si inseriscono nel programma della London Biennale ideata da David Medalla dal 1998. L’artista filippino sceglie dei punti di incontro in cui la vita dell’arte si fonde con la vita quotidiana e la completa creando una fluidità tra luogo di lavoro e luogo di passaggio, secondo il concetto vasto e profondo della performance Urbi et Orbi realizzata a Roma, durante la Notte Bianca nel 2007.
L’idea del coinvolgimento attorno a situazioni astratte e sublimi è alla base della performance di Reynolds che accoglie i partecipanti all’interno di un grande arcobaleno formato da grandi veli colorati, secondo le indicazioni della cartolina di invito di STUDIO.RA che poeticamente sintetizza gli elementi che costituiscono la performance. Reynolds trae ispirazione per questa opera pubblica dal luogo in cui viene realizzata e dalle situazioni contemporanee concrete utilizzando un linguaggio mitologico, che ha la centralità nell’amore, nell’eccitazione, nella vagina considerata la sede per eccellenza dei moti dell’animo.
L’artista americana propone una nuova metafisica e, lasciando la complessità delle teorie di Freud, si rivolge direttamente al mito, alle leggende alle storie che sono alle origini delle differenti culture, come può essere la lunga guerra di Troia per amore di Elena e da cui nasce l’opera Pax Puki. L’artista si ispira alle grandi opere di Poussin, di Reni – ricordiamo il ‘Ratto di Europa’ – per parlare dell’eternità di alcuni temi e del pericolo di sopraffazione con cui la storia individuale deve confrontarsi e da cui tentare di salvarsi. Il pensiero utopico è dell’arte. Solo l’arte, a differenza della politica, può aspirare alle congiunzioni poetiche tra gli uomini e tra il cielo e la terra. La performance di Reynolds darà la possibilità agli artisti di esprimere il proprio linguaggio di “Unione”, come quello dell’artista Uemon Ikeda, che collega con il suo filo rosso dei punti simbolo di una visione e proiezione universale.
Le performance dell’artista americana rievocano la processione, il rito religioso e divengono desiderio collettivo in un rito iniziatico dell’arte.
Il percorso sarà accompagnato dalle opere di Jill Rock. L’artista londinese interviene pittoricamente su cortecce d’albero o su tronchi che naturalmente si sono separati e sono entrati in un altro ciclo.
In ogni parte del mondo è possibile trovare una superficie naturale da dipingere, da sottolineare. Jill Rock ha raccolto i ceppi secchi nel parco della Caffarella, con un’azione di arte povera che rammenta Mario Merz e la raccolta di sarcine!!
Il marginale ritorna nell’universale, nella ricerca del sublime, nell’arco cromatico liberato nel cielo e nella terra.

Reynolds studied painting with Richard Pousette-Dart at Sarah Lawrence College, and graduated with a concentration in Women’s History. She also has a BFA and an MFA from School of Visual Arts. She taught at the Guggenheim Museum for seven years; currently she is a Gallery Studio Instructor at the Brooklyn Museum, and a Family Programs artist for the American Folk Art Museum. Her most recent one-person show was “Imagina a Vagina” in Brazil.
In 2008, Reynolds’s etchings were featured in “Moving Mediators: Ghosts of Interventions Past and Present” at Museum Man in Valparaiso, Chile, along with works of David Medalla and Jill Rock. Museum Man, directed by Adam Nankervis, also featured the Puki MOMdonnas in a one- person show “The Puki Adventus”, in Liverpool, England.
Group shows include “Blender”, curated by Cordy Ryman at Sundaram Tagore Gallery in NYC, and “Close to the Edge” a traveling exhibition co-curated with Kevin Sampson, which included a recent stop at Danny Simmons’s Corridor Gallery in 2009.
Reynolds has participated in every London Biennale since 2000, including the “Pollinations” in Berlin in 2003. In 2008, the Pukis paraded through Paris with London Biennale participants to honor peace in “La Pucelle Puki”.

Jill Rock studied Art and Education gaining BA hons London.
Since 2000 she has been involved in events and exhibitions in London, UK, Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, France, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Australia, Brasil, Chile, New York, India and this year in Ghana West Africa.
Jill Rock’s work is about our relationship with nature explored through colour and the form of wood and natural objects found on the way as it were, picked up off the ground. She likes to collaborate with people from other disciplines as this gives her a breadth of understanding. She also enjoys participating in Performance relating her work to myth, magic and the work of other artists.

Una delle sue più recenti mostre personali è stata “Imagina a Vagina” in Brasile. Nel 2008, le acqueforti di Reynolds hanno illustrato “Moving Mediators: Ghosts of Interventions Past and Present” al Museum Man in Valparaiso, Cile insieme alle opere di David Medalla e Jill Rock. Al Museo Man, diretto da Adam Nankervis, sono state esposte anche le Puki MOMdonnas in una mostra personale “Il Puki Adventus” a Liverpool, in Inghilterra. Fra le numerose mostre ricordiamo “Blender”, a cura di Cordy Ryman a Sundaram Tagore Gallery di New York, e “Close to the Edge” una mostra itinerante con Kevin Sampson, che comprendeva il recente arresto di Danny Simmons nel Corridoio della Galleria nel 2009. Reynolds ha partecipato ad ogni Biennale di Londra dal 2000, compresa la “Pollinations” a Berlino nel 2003. Nel 2008, le Pukis sfilate “La Pucelle Puki” hanno attraversato Parigi con i partecipanti alla Biennale di Londra per onorare la pace.
